Why you're on this site? A quick test.

We're using a tool called Marker.io to collect feedback on the website. When someone spots a typo, a broken button, or a page that just looks off, this is how they'll tell the web team about it.

Before rolling it out to everyone, we want a few people to try it and confirm it works. You don't need to know anything about websites — that's actually the point. If it works for you, it works.

Nothing on this page is functional, except the reporting tool. You can click on anything.

Why use this tool? It's easier.

Normally, reporting a website problem means writing an email: "the thing on the page about pricing looks weird on my screen." Then someone has to write back and ask which page, which thing, and which screen.

Marker.io skips all of that. You click one button, it takes a picture of exactly what you're seeing, you circle the problem, and you type a sentence about it. Behind the scenes it also records the technical details the web team needs — your browser, your screen size, the exact page address — so nobody has to ask you.

Here's the whole thing, start to finish

Look at the bottom edge of your screen. There's a tab labeled Report issue. That tab is always there, on every page. It's the only thing you need.

  1. Click the Report issue tab (not yet though).

    The screen will freeze for a second and take a picture of the page. That's normal. The first time you do this you may be asked to allow the action in your browser

  2. Point out the problem (or problems).

    You'll see the picture of the page with drawing tools above it — a box, an arrow, a pen, a text label. Use whichever one highlights your point. Drawing a box around the problem is usually enough.

  3. Describe what's wrong.

    There's a short form on the right of the picture. Write a sentence or two in the description. This can just be what was wrong and/or what you had expected instead, and in some interactive cases what prior steps led to the issue.

  4. Send it.

    You will be asked for your name and email the first time you report. That's just so the team knows who to reply to — you don't need an account and you don't need to sign up for anything.

That's it. You'll get an email when someone picks it up, and you can reply right from that email if they have a question.
